What is this settlement about?
Banana Republic and The Gap agreed to a $1.95 million wage-and-hour settlement (Weitz v. Banana Republic, LLC, Los Angeles County Superior Court). The suit alleges California wage violations — unpaid minimum/overtime wages, non-compliant meal and rest periods, inaccurate wage statements, unreimbursed business expenses, late wages, and sick pay — plus a PAGA representative claim. The companies deny wrongdoing and settled to avoid the cost and uncertainty of litigation.
Who's excluded: Class members can opt out of the class portion by July 21, 2026 (but cannot opt out of the PAGA portion). Checks become void 180 days after issuance — keep your address current with the administrator.
How much can you get?
Automatic pro rata payment (~$115–$120 avg)
The net fund (estimated ≥$1.13M) is split pro rata by the number of pay periods you worked during the class period — averaging roughly $115–$120 across ~9,600 members; longer tenure = more. Your PAGA share, if any, is combined into one check. No claim form — paid automatically.
How to file your claim

- 3Opt out or object only if you want to (deadline July 21, 2026); you can also challenge your pay-period count with pay stubs by then.
