What is this settlement about?

A settlement was reached in Gomian Konneh v. Urban One, Inc. (District of Maryland) over a targeted cyberattack on Urban One's systems in March 2025 that accessed files containing private information. Urban One is establishing a $675,000 fund; after fees, costs, a service award, and administration, the rest pays class benefits. Urban One denies wrongdoing and settled to avoid the cost and delay of litigation.

Who's excluded: Excluded are the judge and their family/staff, the defendant, and anyone who validly opts out. All benefits share the $675,000 cap and may be reduced pro rata if claims exceed the fund.

How much can you get?

  • Alternative cash — up to $500 (no proof)

A one-time pro rata cash payment up to $500 with no proof or explanation. The final amount depends on the fund remaining and how many choose it, so it may be less than $500.

  • Documented losses + lost time — up to $10,000

Reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses traceable to the incident (Mar 15, 2025–Aug 31, 2026) plus lost time up to 15 hours at $25/hour (max $375; first 4 hours need only a description). Requires records; combined cap $10,000.

  • 3 years credit monitoring

Three years of CyEx Financial Shield Total — three-bureau monitoring with $1M fraud insurance and a fraud-resolution agent — for everyone, no proof.
