What is this settlement about?

Mt. Baker Imaging and Northwest Radiologists (a Bellingham, WA radiology provider) agreed to a $3.3 million non-reversionary settlement (In re: Mt. Baker Imaging Data Security Litigation, Whatcom County, WA) over a January 2025 ransomware attack. An unauthorized third party accessed the network between January 20 and 25, 2025 and obtained names, contact info, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license/ID numbers, treatment/diagnosis information, and health insurance information. The defendants deny wrongdoing but settled to avoid the cost and uncertainty of litigation. They also committed to five years of data-security improvements, bringing total benefits to about $3.8 million.

Who's excluded: Excluded are the defendants' directors and officers, the assigned judge and their family and court staff, and anyone who opts out. Out-of-pocket claims without supporting third-party documentation will be denied.
