What is this settlement about?

Tinder agreed to a $60.5 million non-reversionary settlement of Candelore v. Tinder, Inc., a California case alleging its age-based subscription pricing was illegal. Named plaintiff Allan Candelore claimed Tinder charged older California subscribers about $19.99/month for Tinder Plus while younger users paid $9.99 or $14.99 for the same premium features — alleged violations of California's Unruh Civil Rights Act and Unfair Competition Law. Tinder denies wrongdoing and says its pricing was lawful, but agreed at mediation to settle. No claim form is required — the administrator pays class members automatically from Tinder's records. You only need to elect a payment method on the official site by August 18, 2026.

Who's excluded: California purchases only — out-of-state purchases are not eligible. Class members who validly opted out (by the April 8, 2026 deadline) are excluded and receive nothing.

How much can you get?

  • 70% per capita (Unruh Act)

70% of the net fund is split equally among all participating class members — every member gets the same flat per-capita share regardless of how much they spent.

  • 30% pro rata (UCL restitution)

30% of the net fund is distributed in proportion to what each member actually paid Tinder during the class period — pay twice as much, get twice the pro-rata share.

  2. 2Choose your payment method — PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, ACH, or mailed check — and confirm your contact info.
  3. 3Submit your election by August 18, 2026. If you do nothing, the administrator pays you electronically using Tinder's records, falling back to a check.

  2. Final approval hearingJune 4, 2026
  3. Payment-method election deadlineAugust 18, 2026

When will payments be made?

Payment timing depends on final approval (June 4, 2026 hearing) and any appeals. Best case with no appeals, first payments could reach class members in late 2026 or early 2027; appeals could delay 12–36 months. Keep your contact info current so electronic payments don't fail.
